Maple, Class of 1980. Jim attended Maple Schools from kindergarten through the 12th grade, 1967 – 1980. Post-graduation, Jim joined the United States Navy for four years, spending most of his enlistment in California – initially trained as a medic and later as a radiation safety technician. Once honorably discharged, Jim enrolled at Cleveland State University to study Elementary Education, graduating in 1990. Shortly thereafter, Maple Heights City Schools took a chance and hired one of their own. Throughout the last 30 years, he has been entrusted to work with children in grades four through six, in both regular and special education classrooms. Over the years, he has witnessed Maple Schools evolve and meet the challenges of education in the 21st Century while imparting on him an education, an opportunity to give back, and a rewarding career.
